2025

Blue Knot of 30 Years Service

  • This year marks the 30th Anniversary of Blue Knot. We’ve had the privilege of walking alongside people from across Australia whose lives have been impacted by complex trauma. Thank you for sharing the ways you’ve felt connected to our organisation throughout the years.

2021

  • Launch of Professional Community and Blue Knot Community websites 
  • Expansion of suite of fact sheets to include plain English, Easy Read and translated versions 
  • More services to survivors on our Helpline and through our Redress Support Service  
  • Increased counselling on the National Counselling and Referral Service-Disability and commencement of work in closed institutions 

2020

  • Practice Guidelines for Identifying and Treating Complex Trauma-Related Dissociation
  • Guidelines for Clinical Supervisors of Therapists who Work with Complex Trauma and Dissociation
  • Expansion of Blue Knot Helpline and Redress Support Service

2019

  • Talking about Trauma – Guide to Conversations, Screening and Treatment for Primary Health Care Providers
  • Commenced National Counselling and Referral Service (Disability Royal Commission)
  • Practice Guidelines for Clinical Treatment of Complex Trauma
  • Complementary Guidelines to Practice Guidelines for Clinical Treatment of Complex Trauma

2018

  • Announced National Centre of Excellence for Complex Trauma
  •  Trauma and Memory – Different Types of Trauma and Significance of Trauma
  •  Talking about Trauma – Guide to Conversations and Screening for Health and Other Services
  • Moved into new premises in North Sydney

2017

  • Expanded training agenda
  • Talking about Trauma – Guide for Everyday Conversations for the General Public

2016

  • Rebranded to Blue Knot Foundation
  • Illuminated the Sydney Opera House blue for Blue Knot Day 2016
  • Trauma and the Law: Applying trauma informed practice to legal and judicial contexts

2015

  • ISSTD Media Achievement Award for video series
  • Cost of Unresolved Childhood Trauma and Abuse in Adults in Australia

2014

  • Fact sheet and video series
  • Extensive training agenda

2013

  • Royal Commission into Institutional Responses to Child Sexual Abuse
  • Roll-out of extensive education and training program
  • Expansion of 1300 service
  • With MHCC received silver TheMHS award for research in Trauma Informed Care and Practice: towards a cultural shift in mental health and human services in Australia

2012

  • Practice Guidelines for Treatment of Complex Trauma and Trauma Informed Care and Service Delivery
  • Expanded brief from child abuse to childhood trauma
  • Launched Blue Knot Day as national day

2010

  • ASCA foundation member of National Trauma-Informed Advisory Working Group

2009

  • National Advertising Campaign
  • Inaugural national day – Forget-me-knot Day
  • Trauma therapists employed on 1300 line

2008

  • New strategic direction with workshops for survivors and health professionals.

2007

  • National office moved to Sydney

1995

  • ASCA founded; ran with volunteers – peer support
