In Times of Crisis

Many people who have experienced abuse, neglect, or repeated trauma can feel intense emotional pain and distress at times. If this is happening for you or someone you know, support is available and you don’t have to manage it alone.

If you or someone you know is in immediate danger or needs urgent medical attention, call 000.

For other immediate support options, contact:

Both services are available 24/7.

If you are feeling suicidal or having thoughts about suicide but are not in immediate danger:

If someone you know is in immediate danger or at risk of suicide

Call a friend, family member, or neighbour you trust. If you can, ask them to be with you or stay on the phone while you get support.

You can also speak with a doctor, counsellor, or another health professional as soon as possible to develop a plan to help keep you safe.

Call 000 for ambulance or police.
Stay as calm as you can. Explain what is happening, give the address and directions, and stay with the person while help is on the way if it is safe to do so.

If someone talks about, writes about, or hints at suicide:
Take it seriously. Listen without judgement, stay with them where possible, and support them to seek professional help.

People who have previously attempted suicide may be at increased risk and may need additional support.
